African Market – Acrylic Painting on canvas (14 x18)

In the African Market painting we see bright colors in the vegetables, plastic boxes, motorcycle and the tubing holding up the market shelter. The unexpected combination of colors and textures in the drab monotone landscape inspired this painting.

I am very happy with the process I took in creating this painting. I painted it quickly with the attempt to explore the image. I was not thinking of the finished look of the painting but of exploring the subject with it’s variety of colors and textures. The painting gives the impression of the hastily put together market spot in Africa with the quick painterly brushwork.
