Lilacs

Lilacs

I smelled Lilacs as I walked out my front door. They are special and unique. The impossible clusters of tiny purple flowers has always taken my breath away. When I see them I feel like I have discovered a special treat and been given a moment in time.

 Texture

In this painting we are able to see texture with the different use of brushwork. The soft and sponge like texture of the lilac flower was achieved by pressing down on the tip of the brush over and over using different shades to create the rounded shape of the lilac cluster. The smooth texture of the leaves was achieved by using broad brush strokes that swept in curves.
