The Pop art movement began in Britain in the 1950s alongside the Beatles. The most famous Pop Art paintings from the movement were by the American artist Andy Warhol.
There was a movement in the 20th century with artists like Wassley Kandinsky and then Piet Mondrian who followed the De Stijl movement that opened modern artists to the idea of purely communicating through shapes and designs.
