Chamomile and Lavender Watercolor Painting

The Chamomile and Lavender Watercolor painting was done to emulate the antique look that was seen in 19th century floral guides. They would use the images in the guide books to help identify flowers and to plan their gardens. I gave this painting an antiqued look with a wash of yellow and brown in the background. The casual placement of the flowers in the center of the composition gives a similar presentation style as the floral guides.

Watercolor paintings are delicate and immediate. They provide an artist the opportunity to experiment with ideas, quickly expressing their vision in their paintings. I will be working in watercolor paint to explore my ideas for a “summer floral” painting series similar to the chamomile and lavender watercolor painting . I hope to experiment with different compositions while enjoying the beauty of floral art. I will also be producing a new series of watercolor painting tutorials and watercolor painting tips and techniques.
